CPO-Approved JHSC Part 1 Certification Training
The Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) Part 1 Training is the foundational step toward becoming a certified member of a JHSC, as required under Section 9 of Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA). At Safety First Training, we provide comprehensive, CPO-approved training designed to equip workers and employers with the knowledge and skills to create safer workplaces.
This CPO-approved JHSC Part 1 Certification Training is essential for workplaces with 20 or more employees, ensuring compliance with Ontario law.

Self-Paced Online eLearning: Complete the course at your own pace within 30 days.
3-Day Instructor-Led Online Course: Interactive, instructor-guided training.
In-Class Options: Hands-on learning experience in a traditional setting.
Participants will receive a copy of the Ontario Green Book, ensuring they have the tools to access essential legislation and guidelines. Upon successful completion of Part 1 and passing the final exam, participants will be prepared to continue to JHSC Part 2 Training, which must be completed within 12 months.
This course empowers learners to fulfill their legislated duties, supporting their workplace in understanding roles, responsibilities, and the internal responsibility system to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses.
Who Needs JHSC Training?
The number of JHSC members required depends on your workplace size:
1–5 Employees: No JHSC required unless a designated substance regulation applies.
6–19 Employees: One worker health and safety representative is required.
20–49 Employees: Minimum of two JHSC members.
50+ Employees: Minimum of four JHSC members.
